FAQs

Here’s what people commonly ask us

What is Psychological Counselling?

Psychological counselling (or talk therapy) is the use of evidence-based psychological methods with the aim of improving an individual’s well-being and mental health; resolving or mitigating troublesome behaviors, beliefs, compulsions, thoughts, and/or emotions; and improving relationships, performance, and interpersonal skills.

What would the first session be like in individual psychological counselling?

In the first session, you will have the chance to tell us about what is causing distress and how that has impacted your mental health and well-being. In this session, we will ask you questions that will help us understand the nature of your concerns and how we can best work together to formulate a treatment plan.

How much do you charge per session?

Our individual psychology sessions are $250 per session. Each session runs for 50–60 minutes.

Can I obtain medicare rebate on individual psychology sessions?

Yes!

Medicare provides rebates for individual and group counselling sessions if you have a referral from your GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician (for child referrals). To obtain a referral, please follow the steps below:

Step 1: Make an appointment with your regular GP and complete a Mental Health Care Plan. It is a good idea to tell your GP and/or the medical practice staff that you require a psychological referral so that they know how long to book you in for.

Step 2: In order to receive Medicare rebate for psychology services, you will need to obtain your GP referral and bring in a copy of your Mental Health Care Plan prior to your first appointment with us. You may ask the medical practice to send/email us a copy of the Mental Health Care Plan before your session with us so that we are ready when you arrive.

Step 3: Book in a session with us using the contact form. And you will be all set for your first session!

Do I need a mental health care plan/referral?

A referral (e.g., from a GP) is not compulsory to access psychological services unless you intend to claim Medicare rebate. You can still receive psychological services from us if you do not have medicare and/or private health cover. We also offer discounted rates based on individual circumstances.

How many individual psychology sessions would I need?

This would really depend on your individual case. Our practitioners are trained to work with you to help you manage your stress, gain crucial life skills, and thrive at home, social life, and work. It would be best to discuss your concerns with your practitioner during the first appointment.

What is your cancellation policy?

Your appointments and well-being are very important to us. We understand that sometimes, despite our best intentions, unexpected delays may occur.
Cancellation or Reschedule: If you need to cancel your appointment, we respectfully request at least 48 hours notice. Any cancellation or reschedule made less than 48 hours will result in a cancellation fee. The amount of the fee will be equal to the full amount of the reserved service(s).
Reschedule appointment: Please note that if you reschedule your appointment at short notice (less than 48 hours), we may not be able to guarantee a spot within the next 1-2 weeks (from the time of your original scheduled appointment), as we tend to be fully booked a few weeks in advance.
No-show or late-arrivals: Our goal is to provide quality health care to all our clients in a timely manner. No-shows, late arrivals, and cancellations inconvenience not only our providers, but our other clients as well. It also affects the service provider’s ability to provide you with the best service given shorter sessions/time-frames. We consider it to be a no-show or late arrival if a client arrival occurs after 15 minutes of their scheduled appointment time has elapsed.

We’re an agency and/or corporate house. How do we obtain your services?
